There are way too many definitions on Big Data, and almost everyone is talking about it. The primary idea of what Big Data is that almost everything that we do nowadays are leaving digital footprints and tracers (which are actually data) that can be used for analysis.
Some examples of Big Data :
- analysis of medical records to prevent epidemics
- analysis of transport and traffic records to optimize traffic flow (eg: Waze)
- data modelling for Prediction and Personalization (eg: flood prevention)
The not so obvious examples of Big Data :
- analysis of individual writing style, browsing pattern to identify personality
- study web logs to analyze your shopping preference
- analysis of typing speed to identify a character
